OF DIALOGUE WITH THE PEOPLE

Continuing his Dialogue with the people tour, President
Jammeh on day five on Friday, laid the final foundation stone for
the rural electrification project in Basse.
President Jammeh and entourage then proceeded to Kundam
in the Tumana constituency for a general meeting where there was
a mass defection from the UDP to the APRC.
Addressing the people of Tumana, President Jammeh thanked
all defectors and call on Gambians to rally behind the Ruling Party
pointing out that the UDP has nothing to offer in terms of development
in the country.
He again spoke of the discovery of oil which he wants
all Gambians to benefit when the production starts.
From there, the presidential delegation proceeded to
Lamoi village in Kantora where the Gambian leader performed Friday
prayers.
In a subsequent meeting afterwards, the Gambian Head
of State thanked the people of the area for their continuing support
to the APRC Party especially during the last presidential elections
and informed them of the water project his government will embark
upon, covering up to Fatoto.
Commenting on the construction of Lamoi's road linking
the Fatoto highway, President Jammeh called on the villagers to
liaise with the commissioner on how it could be expanded.
The Gambian leader again called on Gambians to love
each other and put aside tribalism which only creates anarchy and
insecurity.
He announced that due to the discovery of oil in the country, Gambians
in four years time, will not think of going outside the country
for greener pastors.
He pointed out that his next project within the next
ten years, is the introduction of railway services covering the
whole country.
The President presented the people of Kantora a milling
machine and promised them of another five machines if it don't bring
division among them.
In Kundam, the Secretary of State for Trade Edward Singhateh
announced that President Jammeh will provide them with a borehole
under the O.M.U.G. Project.
Whilst in Lamoi, SOS Singhateh said Government is very
much aware of Kantora initiative formed by the people of Kantora
living outside the country specifically to develop their constituency.
In Kundam, Alhaji Sumareh brother of Momodou Sumareh
commonly know as M. Sumareh clarified his brother's political faith.
Pointing out that M. Sumareh is not and will not contest in the
2006 presidential elections, adding that if his brother intends
to stand, he would have consulted the family, which according to
him never happened.
He told President Jammeh that the Sarahulay community only engage
in business and not politics and assured the Gambian leader of their
continued support to the ruling APRC Party.
Other speakers including Aji Oppa Jawo, Nyima Drammeh
and Alhaji Jubabo Corra APRC's constituency chairman assured of
a landslide victory for the Ruling APRC Party in the 2006 presidential
elections.
The youth leader for the area Maudo Suso appealed to
President Jammeh for a barbed wire to fence their divisional youth
camp which they intend to utilise as their horticultural garden.
He also appealed to President Jammeh for a vehicle for Fatoto Police
which he described as being located in the border.
In Lamoi meeting, Chief Yukaseh Tunkara of Kantora,
Alhaji Bacho Ceesay from Garawol, Aja Nyima Trawally, Musa Tukara
and Alhaji Saihou Samura spoke of their loyalty to the Gambian Head
of State and informed President Jammeh that they don't need two
ballot boxes in their area in the 2006 presidential elections as
they intend to go unopposed.
They made a number of appeals including telephone services,
milling machines for women, the provision of mobile phones and the
construction of their road linking the village and the highway.
Chief Tunkara called on patriotic Gambians in public
offices to execute their duties accordingly or resign , pointing
out that civil servants in the URD only undermine government projects.
Gambia's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Lamin Kabba Bajo
who is also part of the presidential entourage called on the people
of Kantora to redouble their efforts in farming for their own benefit.
