president WADE ARRIVES for GAMBIA'S 45TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

His Excellency the President Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya A. J. J. Jammeh has received his Senegalese counterpart Maitre Abdoulaye Wade upon arrival in Banjul to attend The Gambia's 45th Independence anniversary celebration. President Jammeh was amid Cabinet members, parliamentarians, diplomats, school children and a cross section of Gambians and resident Senegalese communities at hand to welcome President Wade. School children and militants from the Western Region and the Kanifing Municipality lined-up the road from the airport to the Brikama Highway, Kombo Sillah Drive, Westfield along Kairaba Avenue and to Bertil Harding Highway to salute the visiting President and his host.

Later in the evening, President Wade who is Chief Guest of honor to Thursday, 18th February 2010 celebration joined President Jammeh at a reception held at the State House in Banjul as a prelude to the anniversary commemoration. In attendance were special guests from the United States of America and friendly countries to The Gambia who were kept amused by local musicians, traditional dancers and the Police and Army Bands.

 

Guinean President's Arrival

Barely two hours before the start of celebration marking The Gambia's 45th Independence Anniversary Thursday, 18th February, the Interim President of the Republic Guinea General Saikouba Conateh arrived in Banjul as co-chief guest of honor (alongside President Wade of the Republic of Senegal). He was met on arrival at Banjul International Airport by host President Sheikh Professor Dr. Alhaji Yahya A. J. J. Jammeh and members of his Cabinet in the midst of a cross-section of Gambians and resident Guinean communities.
