The President His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh has been bolted from the blue following his receipt of a portrait of himself painted by renowned American artist Chaz Guest. President Jammeh is the second President to receive such artwork after United States President Barack Obama.

As special guest of the President, Chaz Guest presented the artwork to President President Jammeh last Thursday at a state Banquet at the lustrous Kairaba Beach Hotel in Kololi, on the occasion of the 45th Independence Anniversary celebration of The Gambia.

In his expression of gratitude and best wishes, President Jammeh also told Mr. Guest that being a painter of such caliber is a noble profession.

In a separate engagement, President Jammeh Wednesday, 23rd February received in audience the visiting American artist Chaz Guest at State House.

Speaking to reporters shortly after their meeting Mr. Guest said his discussion with the Gambian leader centered on the James Island and Juffereh in the North Bank Region.

Mr. Guest said he has proposed to the Gambian leader for the Island to be renamed 'Kunta Kinteh'. He said they have also discussed how they could help Gambians artists in the near future. He hailed President Jammeh for transforming the Gambia into a modern country and assured him of his personal support at all times.
