The president of the Islamic Committee of International Crescent (ICIC), Ali M. Buhedma, on Wednesday afternoon paid a courtesy call on President Jammeh at State House. He was accompanied to State House by the president of the Islamic Forum for International Humanitarian Law, Dr Ossedik Fawgi and the Secretary General of The Gambia Red Cross Society (GRCS), Mr Momodou Bah.

Mr Buhedma told reporters that he was at State House to introduce his institution's activities to His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya A J J Jammeh. He also informed the Gambian leader of their arrangement with the Gambia Red Cross Society concerning organizing seminar on humanitarian assistance.

He briefed him of their aims to cooperate with the University of The Gambia, the Ministries of Health, Tourism and Culture in organizing common activities in the framework of the Islamic Solidarity which he thought the Gambian leader supported.

Mr Buhedma revealed that he was very pleased with His Excellency the President's encouragement and readiness for The Gambia to ratify the convention servicing the Islamic Committee of International Crescent.

He went further to say that they have written a Memorandum of Understanding with The Gambia Red Cross Society in the field of cooperation and that this year they will start organizing joint action on disseminating information about Islamic Sharia by organizing training workshops.

He thanked the leadership of The Gambia Red Cross Society for being committed in the execution of his duty.
