President Jammeh receives letters of credence from foreign diplomats

The Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh received letters of credence from the Ambassadors of the Kingdom of Morocco and Palestine on Wednesday at State House in Banjul.

The first to present his letter to the Gambian leader was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Morocco, His Excellency Taleb Barraba.

Speaking to reporters at State House after presenting his letter, Ambassador Barrada told the press that President Jammeh has expressed his desire and that of his Government to work closely with the Kingdom of Morocco to improve economic cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Barrada promised that he will work closely with government to improve cooperation between The Gambia and the Kingdom of Morocco.

He further pointed out that they have agreed on various areas of cooperation such as agriculture, health, education, energy, fisheries among others. He promised to visit the country frequently to ensure that the agreements are implemented.

Ambassador Barrada thanked President Jammeh for the efforts he made in support of the cause of Morocco. The Gambia and the Kingdom of Morocco, the Ambassador further stated, have very close ties and expressed delight at the support rendered to the Moroccan community in The Gambia.

Palestinian Ambassador

Speaking to reporters after presenting his letter of credence, the Palestinian Ambassador based in Dakar, His Excellency Abdelrahim Alfara, expressed appreciation of Gambia's role in the cause of Palestine as can be attested in the Gambian leader's recently speech at United Nations General Assembly – especially about the resolution that was given at Goldestine. He further acknowledged The Gambia's signing of the resolution against Israelis.

Part of the discussion, Ambassador Alfara revealed included bilateral cooperation between the two countries especially in the areas of skills, engineering in particular where Palestine is well renowned for.

He then assured that he will study the discussions he had with President Jammeh especially with regards to bringing doctors, farmers and engineers to start working on projects in The Gambia.

He extended on behalf of the Palestinian people his warm greetings to the President, government and the people of The Gambia for their support to Palestine.
