| The Ambassador of the Netherlands and the Ghanaian High Commissioner to The Gambia, Tuesday presented their letters of credence to the Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh at a ceremony held at the State House in Banjul. His Excellency Abdoulai Yakuba of Ghana and Ambassador Gerben Sjoerd De Jong of the Netherland's letters of credence followed those of four Ambassadors Monday.
Speaking to reporters after his audience with the Gambian leader, His Excellency Gerben Sjoerd De Jong dilated on the bilateral cooperation between the two countries noting that they share experience in many areas of common concern.
The Ambassador said agriculture, infrastructure and management among other things will be his priority, noting The Gambia's challenges in these areas. He thanked President Jammeh for his development initiatives and conveyed kind regards from King Beatrix of the Kingdom of Netherlands to the people of The Gambia.
The High Commissioner of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Abdulai Yakuba, extended felicitation to President Jammeh from the Ghanaian President, His Excellency John Atta Mills on the occasion of the 45th Independence Anniversary celebration of the Republic of The Gambia.
He said his discussion with the Gambian leader was very fruitful noting that the bilateral relations between the two countries must be concretized for the benefit of the two peoples. Some of the salient areas discussed, the High commissioner noted, were fisheries, education, cultural exchange and agriculture and other joint cooperation. |
