president jammeh receives international honours

5th April 2007:

Following his breakthrough in curing asthma and HIV/Aids, the Gambian leader, President Yahya Jammeh yesterday received at State House certificates of international recognition from the Royal College of Alternative Medicine in Dublin, Ireland and Youth Crime Watch in the United State of America.

The Royal College of Alternative Medicine in Dublin, Ireland awarded President Jammeh certificates of professional competence and Fellow of Good Standing for his outstanding performance in the treatment of HIV/AIDS, presented to him, on behalf of the college by the VC of the University of The Gambia. The Youth Crime Watch award was presented to the Gambian leader by SoS Crispin-Grey Johnson, on behalf of the organisation.

Reacting to the awards, the Gambian leader President Yahya Jammeh said all what he is doing for people is not for money or popularity. He thanked the college and Youth Crime Watch for their gesture. “All what I am doing is a challenge that most people have declared to be unchallengeable. I have always challenged myself to prove that I am what I am by taking on difficult tasks that people will normally say are impossible,” he stated.

President Jammeh said since 1996, he has been treating people that he didn't even know. “When I started treating people, I told Dr Njie that we are starting a war that will be global. I am not charging anybody for the treatment. I am doing this because people are dying and for humanity to have a good future, we must stop all the diseases that kill people. We need all hands on deck to develop this country, to develop the world and humanity. I want to thank all the people who appreciate what I am doing for humanity. No matter what the local and international media will say, I know what my mission is and nothing can make me deviate from my mission. No amount of criticism, negative reporting will make me change. I have a mission to accomplish and I will accomplish it to the satisfaction of the Almighty Allah and the benefit of humanity,” President Jammeh stated.

Dr Tamsir Mbowe, Secretary of State for Health and Social Welfare said President Jammeh's name has been registered in medical books for his breakthrough in curing HIV/Aids.

For her part, Neneh Macdouall-Gaye, Secretary of State for Communications and Information Technology thanked President Jammeh for his love for humanity. She said when President Jammeh announced that he could cure HIV/Aids, a lot of negative and unethical reports were written by the international media which were all wrong. She called on them to come back and see for themselves what is happening and report correctly. Secretaries of State Ousman Sonko, Fatou Lamin Fye, Crispin Grey Johnson, Sheik Omar Fye, the Speaker of the National Assembly Fatoumatta Jahumpa-Ceesay, the Chief Justice Abdou Karim Savage and the Chief of Defence Staff Lang Tombong Tamba also congratulated the Gambian leader on his breakthrough in curing HIV/Aids.

The ceremony was chaired by the Director of Press at State House, Mr Ebrima JT Kujabi.
