PRESIDENt-ELECT OF GUINEA BISSAU EXPRESSES HIS RESOLVE TO WORK CLOSELY WITH THE GAMBIA
in resolving the numerous political crisis facing his country
1st August 2009

Amidst great fanfare and jubilation the President-elect of Guinea Bissau Malam Bachai Sahna took his entry to the home town of the Gambian leader, Kanilai. The Bissau Guinean President-elect was met on arrival at Kanilai by his host President Jammeh. The Gambia and Bissau has great deal of co-operation that has brought the people of the two nations closer.

For the past decade President Jammeh spared no effort in ensuring that the war torn country is restored to democracy where the lives and rights of each citizen will guarantee.

While at Kanilai, President Jammeh organised a state banquet in honour of the President-elect Malam Bachai Sahna. The state dinner was attended by the Vice President Dr. Aja Isatou Njie-Saidy, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ministers, Service Chiefs and senior government officials.

At the state banquet the President-elect of Guinea Bissau Malam Bachai Sahna saluted the efforts rendered by President Jammeh in ensuring a free and peaceful election in Guinea Bissau.

It could be recalled that several consultative meetings were held in Banjul under the auspices of President Jammeh. This convergence of Bissau political pundits has paid great dividend towards the successful conduct of the Presidential elections.

For the President-elect the ties between Banjul and Bissau will always move from strength to strength.

President-elect Malam Bachai Sahna underscored the vital role played by President Jammeh in promoting peace on the continent and maintained that it was from such a support that Guinea Bissau was able to conduct a hitch free Presidential election.

While assuring The Gambia of Guinea's commitment to the bond that tie the two countries, President-elect Malam Bachai Sahna hailed President Jammeh for transforming The Gambia into a modern state, making it a beacon of hope for the whole world.
