RECEIVES CAF, WAFU DELEGATES

Dr Kamal Shaddad executive member of CAF, the Confederation
of African Football, and president of the Sudanese FA is at
the head of the CAF delegation attending the CAF Under 17 Continental
Football finals in Banjul May 7 through 22.
The CAF officials along with officials of the West African
Football Union (WAFU) were received by President Yahya Jammeh
at State House in Banjul last Thursday.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the Gambian leader, Dr.
Shaddad announced that CAF president Issa Hyatou could not attend
this 6th edition of the championship, as he was hospitalised
due to ill health.
"We thanked President Jammeh for the infrastructure and
facilities put in place for the tournament, especially the hotel
accommodation and transportation, all of which shows his personal
commitment to sports", he added.
They observed during their meeting with President Jammeh,
he said, that "he is not only interested in winning, but
interested in building solidarity among African youths".
Dr Shaddad went on to emphasise that fair play during the
tournament must be observed. GFA president Alhaji Omar Sey accompanied
the CAF delegation to State House.
