STATE HOUSE DINNER IN HONOUR OF OUTGOING DEAN OF DIPLOMATIC CORPS &THE CUBAN MEDICAL TEAM IN THE GAMBIA

2nd November 2002:

The President Dr Alhaji Yahya Jammeh on Friday hosted a dinner in honour of the outgoing Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Morrikie Fofana and the Cuban Medical team.

 

Speaking on the occasion the Vice President Isatou Njie-Saidy praised High Commissioner Fofana for strengthening the bilateral relations existing between the Gambia and Sierra Leone. Mrs Njie-Saidy also thanked Mr Fofana and wished him success in his future endeavours. She also noted with appreciation the positive contributions made by the Cuban Medical team to national development.

 

Speaking earlier, the Interior Secretary Ousman Badjie who's also overseeing the Foreign Affairs department described High Commissioner Fofana as a seasoned diplomat who has made significant contribution to the enhancement and strengthening of relations between his country and the Gambia.

 

Secretary of State Badjie also used the occasion to express profound gratitude to the government and people of Cuba for their solidarity. The Health Secretary Yankuba Gassama expressed similar sentiments.

 

For his part, High Commissioner Fofana hailed Gambians for their hospitality. The Director of Press and Public Relations Marcel Thomasi chaired the occasion.
