Ministry of Economic Planning and Industrial Development

Entered as Cadet Economist and rose through the ranks to Director of Planning and Permanent Secretary

1990 – 1996

Permanent Secretary, Finance and Economic Affairs and at the same time Alternate Governor to the World Bank, African Development Bank and Islamic Development.

Also served as National Authorising Officer under the European Union – African, Pacific and Caribbean countries arrangement.

1996 – 1998

Served as Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service, Office of The President, The Gambia.
1999 – 2000

Served as Gambia's Ambassador to Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with accreditation to 9 Arab countries, the Organisation of Islamic Conference and the Organisation of African Unity in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

2000 – 2002

Served as the Gambia's Ambassador to Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium with concurrent accreditation to 8 European countries, the European Commission, FAO, IFAD and WTO.
