PROFILE

Over a period of twenty five years I have acquired a great deal of expertise and experience in the field of both practical management/administration and theoretical knowledge through studies in academies, institutes and universities.

Post Graduate studies in Business and Service Sector Management (Business Administration) especially in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management has grounded my past work experience through examination of the theories and practical  academic work - in global  supply chain management, international  purchasing, operations and logistics management, entrepreneurship and small business development, strategic analysis – that underpins modern Business Administration. My dissertation work at MSc level is on Performance Measurement, using the Stakeholder Perspective.

Presently serving my country at the helm of Youth and Sports Development as the Minister of Youth and Sports. This mantle is preceded by my tenure as National Project Coordinator, GAMJOBS (a UNDP Funded Project). I have worked with the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSS) as Assistant Director and Coordinator, National Enterprise Development Initiative (NEDI). I have also worked in a variety of posts notably, served in the Army as a career Military Officer, Civil Aviation Department – in Communications and in Construction, as a Tally Clerk.

Having served in a variety of senior positions over the years, I have acquired excellent leadership and communications skills both verbally and written. I am meticulous, hardworking and always strive for perfection in my drive for excellence.

My travels, to represent my work and country to destinations,  far and wide participating in various international forums and gatherings, have grounded and reinforced my work experience enabling me to mix and fit readily in diverse  environments, appreciate diverse views and backgrounds.

Administrator, Gambia National Youth Service Scheme

Responsibilities:

✓Day to day administration and management of the scheme based on policy guidelines from the Department of State for (Ministry of) Youth and Sports.

✓ Manage, plan and present recommendation for staff training and development.

✓ Responsible for the preparation, submitting and defending of the scheme's annual budget at the Ministries of Youth and Finance. Engage donor agencies and philanthropic organizations/persons in a bid to mobilize funds to bridge funding gaps.

 

  Gambia National Army

Appointments held as a Commissioned Officer;

✓1993-1994 - Adjutant 1 Infantry Battalion, responsible for the day-to-day administration of the battalion and maintenance of discipline on both the officers and men. The battalion's staff officer.

✓ September 1992 Acting Commanding Officer Farafenni Barracks and responsible for the Training School.

✓ November 1991 Training Officer GNA Training School, Farafenni.

✓ May 1991 Battalion Operation and Training Officer, 1 Infantry Battalion, Yundum Barracks.

✓ November 1990 - May 1991 - Peace Keeping Mission with ECOMOG (Economic Community for West Africa Monitoring Group) in Liberia as a platoon Commander.
