The President Alhaji Yahya Jammeh on Monday presided over victory celebrations at the July 22nd Square following the Darling Scorpions heroic performance against the Teranga Lions of Senegal.

The occasion was attended by thousands of Gambians including the Vice President Aja Isatou Njie Saidy, Secretaries of State and senior Government officials.

Speaking on the occasion, President Jammeh commended the team and the Coach for their courage and wonderful performance in Dakar on Saturday. He urged the team and the captain to always follow his advice in their future tournament because he wants them to come home with victory.

President Jammeh thanked the Gambia's Honorary Consul General in China, Abubakr Jawara for donating D450, 000 to the Gambia Football Association.

The Gambian leader also promised to retain the services of the coach Paul Put, goal keeper trainer Christina and the team Doctor.
