Presentation of Buses and Trucks to various Institutions

30th April 2002:

The President, Dr Alhjai Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh has donated 11 trucks and 4 buses to several institutions and security units in the country at a presentation ceremony held at State House recently.

Beneficiaries include the Gambia National Army who received two trucks, the Gambia National Guard also received two trucks, the Gambia Armed Forces Headquarters got one truck, one went to the Gambia Navy, three to Police Intervention Unit and two to the Prison Services.

The four buses were divided among Foni Kombo Society, The National Youth Service Scheme, the University of the Gambia and the Gambia Armed forces. Speaking on the occasion, the President Alhaji Yahya Jammeh repeatedly spoke of his intention to develop the Gambia and make it a respectable and enviable state in the African continent and the entire world.

He said he would continue to provide the means that are required to develop the country whenever they are available. Head of State Jammeh expressed his ardent desire to share his fortune with the Gambian people. He however advised the beneficiaries to ensure proper use and maintenance of the vehicles. The Secretary of State for Education Ann Therese Ndong Jatta on-behalf of the beneficiaries thanked President Jammeh for the donation and prayed that Allah the Almighty continue to endowed him with resources to help Gambians. Secretaries of State and representatives of the beneficiary institutions witnessed the presentation ceremony.
