Egypt has donated a consignment of medical items to the government of The Gambia. The items which included 54 cartons of 8 different kinds of medicament were presented Friday to the President Professor Yahya Jammeh at State House by a representative of the Egyptian government Dr Imad.
The Gambian leader thanked Egypt for what he called a wonderful show of solidarity. President Professor Jammeh hailed the excellent relations existing between Egypt and The Gambia. Professor Jammeh noted that the items would go a along way in serving the needs of the Gambian people. Professor President Jammeh also commended Dr Imad for initiating the gesture.
The Secretary of State for Health Dr Malick Njie said the move was a testimony of the cordial ties between the two countries. He therefore praised the Gambian leader for establishing such good relations with Egypt. Dr Njie stated that the items are vital to the medial sector and pledged that they would be put into good use.
The representative of the Egyptian government Dr Imad applauded the long standing cordial relations between The Gambia and his country.
The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Omar Touray said the donation was a manifestation of Africans working together in the spirit of south-south cooperation.
