| The President Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh on Sunday met with a group of investors from Dubai. The group called Emirates Investment and Development Company which left Banjul on Monday for United Arab Emirate was in Banjul to explore the business opportunities in The Gambia.
Speaking at State House President Jammeh said Dubai has always been a source of inspiration for him because of its infrastructure. He therefore urged the group to help transform The Gambia into a financial centre in the continent with all year round Tourism, excellent hotels, resorts, and conference facilities using the country's natural resources especially the River Gambia.
President Jammeh also spoke about the friendly investment atmosphere in The Gambia citing tranquility and zero tolerance for corruption and bureaucracy. He therefore assured the group of his government's support at all times.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Bouti Alghani and Abdullah Abdul Azziz both spoke of their readiness to work hand in gloves with government to develop several sectors of the country's economy.
The Secretary of State for Finance and Economic Affairs suggested to the group to consider investing in the aviation industry especially in helping the National Airline GIA to be a strong footing.
The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Omar Touray told the delegation that The Gambia has all the potential for investment especially peace, security, good leadership, and excellent economic indicators. |
