The Ambassador of the European Union to The Gambia and Senegal Mr. Gilles Hervio on Friday called on Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh at State House.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the Gambian leader, Ambassador Hervio said their discussion centered on the cooperation between The Gambia and the European Union and touches on the European Union's new budget support to The Gambia. He said they also talked about how to maintain the micro-economic stability of the country and to improve lives of the people through the provision of education and health.

To achieve these, Ambassador Hervio stated the commitment and contribution of all the people towards these developments is required.

The European Union is aware that a large number of donor partners are coming to The Gambia, but said the EU will continue supporting The Gambia in all ways.

The ambassador recognized the progress made over the past years and added that challenges still remain and commended The Gambia Government for the achievements it has registered over the years especially in the areas of health and education.
