madam Jammeh presented cheques for operation Save a baby, others

2nd April 2007:

Gamcel and Gamtel Staff Association, yesterday presented three cheques amounting to D510, 000 to the First Lady Madam Zineb Yahya Jammeh, at a ceremony held at the State House. The presentation also included 40 waterproof mattress.

The D250,000 cheque was earmarked for Operation Save the Baby (OSB), D210,000 cheque for women empowerment and D50,000 cheque for the HIV AIDS and Asthma Trust Fund.
Receiving the cheques, Madam Zineb Jammeh thanked the association for their contribution towards the three initiatives.

She then urged other parastatals and companies to emulate the Gamcel/Gamtel Staff Association.

Confirming that this is not the first time the association made the donation, the First Lady said the donation will go a long way in saving the lives of many babies in the country.
She then commended the association on behalf of all the mothers in the country, saying “I really thank you for this,” she said.

Speaking earlier, Ramou Nyass Hydara, a member of the Gamcel/Gamtel Staff Association, said words are not adequate to express their happiness towards the First lady, for her love for Gambians, especially young babies. “Since the beginning of the association, you have always been with us. We promise that we will be doing such donations always”.

Other speakers at the ceremony included Vice-President Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon Fatou Jahumpa-Ceesay, and Dr Malick Njie, Chief Medical Director of RVTH.
