FULA BUSINESS COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTES D200,000 TO AU SUMMIT

The Fula Business Community in The Gambia on Monday, presented a cheque for D200,000 to President Yahya Jammeh at State House as part of their contribution towards the forthcoming African Union Summit.

In receiving the cheque, President Jammeh thanked them for their desire to contribute towards the summit, adding that for  the summit, what is important is not what you contribute but the intention to participate. According to President Jammeh, the contribution  demonstrates the Fula business community's willingness to support the initiatives of the government.

Presenting the cheque on behalf of the community, Alhagie Cherno Jallow, the Managing Director of the AMC Trading, the leader of the delegates, said they are pleased to contribute towards the hosting of the AU summit and added that The Gambia will host a lot of visitors and they deem it fit to contribute in order for the country to have a successful summit.

For her part, Mrs Susan Waffa Ogoo, the Secretary of State for Tourism and Culture, thanked the Fula business community, for their wonderful gesture, adding that the Fula community are very peaceful and always complement the efforts of government.

Mr Gibbi Jallow, Managing Director Gam Gaz; Mr Sheriff Jallow, businessman; Mustapha Jallow, businessman and Amadou Telly Baldeh, businessman, were part of the delegation. Mr Mambury Njie, the Secretary-General at the Office of the President; Dr Tamsir Mbowe, Secretary of State for Health, also attended the ceremony, Sheikh Omar Faye, Director of Press and Public Relations chaired the ceremony.
