GAMBIA, BRAZIL SIGN CO-OPERATION AGREEMENT

The governments of Brazil and the Gambia signed three cooperation agreements at the start of President Jammeh's four-day working visit to Brazil.
The agreements include the sports cooperation agreement, the formation of a joint commission between the Gambia and Brazil and basic agreement on technical cooperation between the two countries.

The agreements were signed by the Secretary of State for Youth, Sports and Culture Samba Faal and SOS for Foreign Affairs Musa Gibril Bala Gaye on behalf of the Gambia government while the Brazilian Minister
of Foreign Relations Celso Amorim signed on behalf of his government.

President Jammeh and his delegation were given a tumultuous welcome at the Planalto Palace in downtown Brazilia. During the welcoming ceremony, the Gambian leader inspected a guard of honour mounted by
the Brazilian Presidential Guards followed by playing of the national anthem of the two countries with a twenty one cannon salute.

President Jammeh was later ushered into the Palace Chambers where he had a close door meeting with his host President Luiz Inacio Lula de Silva. President Jammeh is being accompanied by a high powered
delegation including Secretaries of State.
