A solidarity march was conceived and organized on Friday by Gambians living in the diaspora to highlight and commend the strides made by the Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alh. Dr. Yahya Jammeh in transforming The Gambia into a modern state. The procession that began at the Westfield Junction to July 22nd Square showed the participation of thousands of Gambia youths and women who agreed that developments registered under the Jammeh Administration are visible and evident.
After a long distant walk, the active walking crowd finally arrived the July 22nd Square, where they met thousands of Banjulians waiting for them.
Later in the night, the jubilating crowd was joined by the man at the helm of The Gambia’s development, the President His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alh. Dr. Yahya Jammeh.
At the venue, speaker upon speaker hailed the Jammeh Administration for the numerous efforts it rendered to transform the lives of Gambians. Pa Modou Mbowe is among those who thought it wise to stage such a solidarity march dubbed “Thank you Mr. President”. Mbowe who lives in Bamingham in the United Kingdom said the motive behind the show is to prove to the world that all what has been reported on The Gambia on the internet and other news sources are unfounded and Gambians admired their leader. He challenged the youthful population at home to rally behind President Jammeh as he strides to build their future.
Lamin king Kole another member of the organizing committee, hailed all those who took part in the solidarity march and pledged their resolve to be continuously staging such an event so as to prove critics wrong.
For the Mayor of Banjul Samba Faal this is what is expected of patriotic citizens. He said Gambians should be proud of President Jammeh and always support him in his efforts to develop our motherland.
The Majority Leader Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta underscored the need for Gambians to rally behind the Jammeh Administration saying it has done a lot for the Gambian populace. He challenged the masses to deviate from factionalism and put all hands on deck for the development of the country.
The Minister of Fisheries, Water Resource and National Assembly Matters Antouman Saho who is also the APRC National Mobilizer, described the solidarity march as a manifestation that those in the diaspora are pleased with the Jammeh Administration’s development agenda. The rapid infrastructural and socio-economic development registered in the country according Minister Saho are enough to prove the skeptics wrong. The launching of the GRTS Satellite Network, a development that he said will further inform the world of the state of The Gambia’s development.
The President His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alh. Dr. Yahya Jammeh hailed both the orgainisers and those who participated in the solidarity march. To him his efforts in transforming the country don’t worth such, pointing out he is doing his duty. But for those behind the staging of the carnival its just more than that.
The Gambian leader further revealed his plans to embarking more development projects and informed those in the diaspora that for the Jammeh Administration it is a new project in every three months.
The manner colonialism has taken its toll on the continent’s under development was also delved into by the Gambian leader who said The Gambia will never be enslaved by any country and under his leadership the country will develop.
In recognition of his invaluable support to nation building the organizers of the carnival presented the President with a Certificate of Appreciation and a trophy.
His vision and stance to make The Gambia a silicon valley in Africa is apparent, it is now the duty of every Gambian both at home and in diaspora to join hands and compliment President Jammeh’s efforts so as to see The Gambia become a modern state in the whole of Africa. |
