PRESIDENT ASSURES LOCAL FOOD PROCESSORS OF GOVERNMENT SUPPORT

The President Dr. Alhaji Yahya Jammeh has expressed his Government's commitment to support local food processing industries. President Jammeh was speaking during a meeting held on Monday with the management of Gamjuice Company who paid a courtesy call on him at State House. The President advised them to produce quality products and urged the Food and Nutrition Unit in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture to set standards for local food producers. He also called on the local entrepreneurs to encourage each other and compete in a friendly atmosphere.

The Gambian leader pointed out that such competition should motivate them to produce quality products. The Secretary of State for Communication, Information and Technology Dr. Bakary Njie commended the proprietor of Gamjuice Issacs Thomas for his laudable initiative. He advised them to concentrate on available local products and ensure proper packaging system.

In his speech Mr. Thomas said his company would provide employment and skills training opportunities for Gambian youths.
