As required by the constitution President Yahya Jammeh with a high power delegation including his party bigwig on Friday September 1, 2006 begin his annual nation wide dialogue with the people tour.

The Gambian leader is expected to hold meetings in 51 villages and towns across the country.

President Jammeh's first meeting was in Essau in the North Bank Division which was attended by thousands of his party militants.

Addressing party militant supporters, at Essau, President Yahya Jammeh said although the presidential election is schedule to take place in 3 weeks time but said he is not on a political campaign. He said, the 1994 revolution was meant for the North Bank Region. "My Presidency is God given. If I am given another five year madate, the Gambia will be the silicon valley of Africa". He promise the people of North Bank for a 24 hours ferry system.
