Alhamudi Conteh, UDP sponsored candidate for 2001 National Assembly with 200 of his supporters from Bantunding in Wuli East on Wednesday announced their defection to the ruling APRC at a meeting held at Bajakunda.
In a brief statement, Alhamudi said he and his supporters were enticed by the numerous development projects undertaken by the Jammeh government in his 12 years rule.
For his part, Edward Singhateh SOS for Enviroment applauded Alhamudi Conteh and his supporters for joining the APRC. SOS Singhateh said associating one's self to APRC mean looking for progress and development. "This is what is expected of a good citizen," he said.
Yankuba Touray SOS for Agriculture and APRC national mobilizer said the defection of Alhamudi Conteh and his supporters is a plus for the APRC. The September 22 election is a forgone conclusion that President Jammeh has won with a landslide victory. SOS Touray assured farmers that plans are at advance stage to rejuvenate mix farming centers to improve the Agricultural production. He urged youth to set up agriculture clubs to boost farm production. He also assured farmers that there will be no credit buying of nuts in the next groundnut season.
Responding to request made by various speakers, ranging from road construction, an ambulance for Foday kunda health centre to name a few, President Jammeh donated a new land curser vehicle to Foday Kunda health centre. He also donated a sum of D50,000 to the people of Wuli East to rehabilitate their road.
"I want to assure you that as soon Kerewan - Laminkoto road construction is completed, the new project is your Passamas - Laminkoto road. The funds are already secured. We are just waiting for the constructors to finish Kerewan road and start yours.
I want to assure you that yours will start before 2008". The APRC also held meetings in Sarengai and Diabugu in Sandu District. |
