The panel of judges for the July 22nd anthem Wednesday presented an interim report to the President Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh at State House. The report was presented to the Gambian leader by the chair of the Panel, Nana Grey-Johnson. The competition initiated by the Gambian leader has as its price tag one million dalasi to any Gambian who composes the best anthem for the July 22nd Revolution, which will also double as the APRC anthem.

Speaking on the occasion the President acknowledged the toughness of the competition saying that it has gone beyond his imagination. He however suggested to the panelists to encourage popular participation. He told them to rebroadcast the program of the 18 finalists who were featured on GRTS TV to allow people to vote through SMS with sincerity and honesty.

The Attorney General and Minister of Justice Marie Saine Firdaus applauded the initiative as historic adding that it would tell the whole world about the objectives of the revolution. She therefore thanked the President for his foresight and courage. The Minister for Local Government and Lands Ismaila Sambou congratulated the panelists for their hard work and dedication to duty. The presentation ceremony was chaired by the secretary to cabinet, Dr. Njogu Bah.
