TEXT OF PRESIDENT'S CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

5th April 2005

OP 135/01/PART IV/(175)

Lord Excellency,

It grieves me much to have once again convey to your Excellency and the brotherly people of Indonesia my heartfelt sympathy for the untold havoc and death wreaked on your country by the eathquake that ravaged especially the Island of Nias on the night of 28th March 2005.

Indeed, Mr President, barely three months after the dreadful 'Tsunami' unleashed unprecedented widespread devastation to your county on Boxing Day last, the people of Indonesia were hardly recovering from that catastrophe when the elements again struck.

In these trying times for Your Excellency, the Government and peole of Indonesia, please be assured of my unflinching support and the condolences of the Gambian nation to the bereaved as well as wishes of speedy recovery for those of your countrymen who have sustained various injuries as a result of the earthquake. May the Almighty Allah be our succour.

Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration and fraternal esteem..
