Your Excellency and Dear Brother,
It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of sympathy that I learnt of the sudden demise of His Eminence, Serigne Mouhamadou Lamine Bara Mbacké Falilou, Khalif General of the Mouride Fraternity, which sad event occurred on Wednesday 30th June 2010.
The former Khalif General will always be remembered as one of the most remarkable religious leaders of the West Africa Sub-region and the Republic of Senegal in particular, who dedicated his efforts for the cause of humanity and the promotion of peace and understanding amongst Senegalese and Gambians.
On behalf of the Government and people of The Gambia, my family and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to extend our deepest condolences and prayers to Your Excellency, the Mouride Fraternity and the brotherly people of the Republic of Senegal on this very great loss.
We further pray that the bereaved family, the Mouride Fraternity and the Government and people of the Republic of Senegal be granted the fortitude to endure this loss, in total submission and trust to Allah, the Almighty. May the Almighty welcome the departed soul and may He grant him eternal repose in Heaven.
