Your Excellency,
I have learnt with great pleasure the signing on sunday of the
comprehensive and historic Peace Agreement between the Government
of sudan people's Liberation Army.
This important event on doubt testifies to the commitment that
both sides have to end Africa's longest-running conflict, and to
restore peace and stability in the region.
On behalf of the Government and people of the Gambia, may i seize
this opportunity to congratulate you and Dr John Garang, and the
entire people of Sudan for this great and historic achievement.
I hope this peace agreement will serve as the foundation stone
to address the crisis situations in the Western Darfur region and
Eastern Sudan.
