The President Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh has described music as an important factor in the socio-economic and cultural development of any nation. President Jammeh made the remarks on Saturday at State House when he received Ouza Diallo, a renowned Senegalese musician.

Ouza went to State House to demonstrate his allegiance and support to the Gambian leader and also to present his daughter Adjii Ouza who is also a musician based in Paris, France.

Speaking on the occasion the Gambian leader expressed his appreciation for Ouza's visit to State House and acknowledged the musician's support to him through the songs he dedicates to him. President Jammeh encouraged Adji Ouza to focus on her music career and advised her to be sensitive of her culture.

The Minister of Trade, Industry and Employment Yusupha Kah spoke of the brotherly ties between The Gambia and Senegal and thanked Ouza for his efforts towards cementing that relationship. The Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources Antouman Saho, described Ouza as one of the most consistent musicians in the sub-region and called on others to emulate him.

Earlier, Ouza explained that he went to State House to seek President Jammeh's blessing and encouragement for his daughter noting that the President has been a source of inspiration for him. He spoke of his plans to establish a music school in The Gambia. Adji Ouza used the opportunity to present copies of CDs to the Gambian leader.
