ENTERPRISING YOUTH PRESENTS PRESIDENTIAL SPEECH PODIUM TO VP

The Vice President, Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy on Tuesday received at her office a speech podium, on behalf of the President, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh by a young enterprising Gambian youth.

On receiving the podium, the Vice President described the young carpenter, Omar Mbacke Gassama, as a patriotic citizen and a hard working young man who has an objective in life.  "Once you have an objective in life and pursue it, you will succeed," the Vice President added that government has created the enabling environment by setting up lot of skill centers in the country.  She said the onus now lies with the youths to make use of it and benefit themselves from the numerous opportunities created by the President.
VP Njie-Saidy urged Omar to provide services on time and be reliable at all times.  She called on Gambians to lend support to youths like Omar.

The Minister of Interior, Ousman Sonko, thanked the young carpenter for this laudable initiative. Minister Sonko added that the President always wants youths to engage in meaningful ventures.
Interior Minister Sonko said that the President is willing to do whatever he can to help develop the youths of the nation. He then advised Omar to keep up the good work with honesty and sincerity and always produce quality job for his clients in order to gain their trust and confidence.

After presenting the podium, Omar Mbacke Gassama revealed that he stopped at grade 9 and could not further his education to high school due to financial constraints, but later joined the SOS Skills and Vocational Training School for three years.

Omar said the podium is his contribution towards the 15th anniversary of July 22nd Revolution celebrations.  "I am inspired by President Jammeh as he always advises youths to acquire skills, and to take part in the socio-economic development of the country," he said.

Gassama said this is his second time of presenting to the President; the first was the map of Africa saying because the President loves Africa and works towards uniting Africans.
He thanked the President and called on the general populace to patronize his workshop in Bakau Newtown.

"It took me one week to put things together and spent about 25,000 dalasis for its completion," he finally revealed.
