29th March 2008

The President Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh has announced the discovery of speedy and effective treatments for six diseases - toothache, athritise, stroke, skin cancer, tuberculosis and impotence. Dr Jammeh made the disclosure on Saturday at State House as the test results of the 3rd and 4th batch of HIV patients undergoing his treatment were released by the Director General of the Presidential Medical Team Dr Tamsir Mbowe.

The results confirmed that the virus has been completely cleared out of four patients who were therefore accordingly recommended for discharge.

The Gambian Leader used the occasion to strongly urge the rest of the patients not to pre-empt their discharge but to stay for treatment until such a time that they are officially discharged. He also underscored the need for the patients to be constantly attending treatment sessions and to strictly adhere to the rules of his treatment in order to avoid unintended consequences.

A patient Ansumana Sanneh on behalf of his colleagues thanked President Jammeh for what he called his 'wonderful achievements. Lemso Ezeli a patient from Malawi re-echoed similar sentiments.

The ceremony was chaired by the Chief Medical Director RVTH Dr Mariatou Jallow and was graced by the Vice President, Secretaries of State amongst other dignitaries.
