Senegalese Foreign Affairs minister meets President Jammeh

The Senegalese Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Madicke Nyang on Tuesday, 22nd December called on His Excellency the President, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh at State House in Banjul.

Speaking to the press shortly after his audience with the President, Mr. Nyang said his mission at the President's Office was to convey a message of fraternity and brotherhood from His Excellency President Abdoulaye Wade, the Senegalese leader, and also to introduce himself as the new Foreign Affairs Minister of Senegal in order to solicit the Gambian leader's advice as well as his recommendations.

He further revealed that the Gambian leader, during their discussion, gave him important pieces of advice that will enable him reinforce the already existing relationship between the two countries.

According to Foreign Affairs Minister Nyang, after listening to the Gambian leader, he was convinced that the already existing ties will be further strengthened. He added that channels of communication have now identified between himself and his Gambian counterpart, Ousman Jammeh, towards re-enforcing the already existing ties between the two countries which will notice a new face in the relationship of both countries.

He said that he is on a diplomatic tour around the region and that the fact that he started with The Gambia is a clear testimony of the excellent relationship.

Minister Nyang concluded by promising to work closely with his Gambian counterpart to foster the existing ties between Banjul and Dakar.

He was accompanied to State House by the Foreign Affairs Minister of The Gambia and the Senegalese High Commissioner to The Gambia, Mr. Modou Faal.
