three officials join president jammeh's cabinet
29th October 2009

It is largely an effort to build up a credible and reliable pool of public servants in pursuit of the country's development agenda as envisaged in the Vision 2020 blueprint. This has given way to numerous endorsements and swift actions where officials are found wanting. It brought in its wake a new minister of Forestry and the Environment, Jato Sillah, a Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Momodou Seedy Kah and a Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Gambians abroad, Burama Kebba Sanyang. They have been appointed to man three key Government sectors, through which some of them rose to the highest rank.

They have vast and a wealth of knowledge in the sectors they have been appointed in, which the Vice President thinks is an added bonus considering the critical nature of these areas. She continued to point out the intricate link between the Ministries of Agriculture and Forestry, which makes it prudent for them to collaborate so as to register better results.

President Jammeh, speaking from years of experience tasked the three government officials who have just been sworn to join his Cabinet to remain patriotic and uphold the values that earned them recognition from his Government. The manner upon which they conduct themselves will certainly earned them praises or criticism, and accepting the challenge to serve in Government requires hard work and loyalty; two important pillars the President had never compromised.

Jato Sillah and Momodou Seedy Kah have specially been outstanding in service: the President noticed that they have unquestionable character and attitude towards work. He also welcomed Burama Kebba Sanyang with open arms, recalling he had called on Gambians who have something to offer to contribute to nation building.

It was the end of a formal introduction and the beginning of a service of such a demanding nature that is sustained by loyalty and honesty.
