president jammeh donates 14 tractors

President Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh on Sunday presented fourteen (14) tractors in fulfillment of the promise he made during his recently conducted ‘dailogue-with- the-people' tour.

Presenting the tractors on behalf of President Jammeh, the Minister for Local Government and Lands Ismaila Sambou said the gesture is a manifestation of President Jammeh's commitment in assisting and boosting the agricultural sector. This, he went on, is geared towards the attainment of food self sufficiency emphasizing its importance in alleviating poverty.

Minister Sambou further emphasized that we must eat what we grow to have a healthy nation and stay healthy.

Minister Sambou went on to shower praises on President Jammeh describing him as a man who fulfills his promises and called on the beneficiaries to take maximum care of the tractors with particular emphasis on the green youths whom he urged to emulate the efforts of the President.

Secretary to Cabinet Ngogu Bah, in his chairing, singled out President Jammeh's exemplary leadership and passion for farming and prayed for the President's good health and well-being. He also called on Gambians to reciprocate the Gambian leader's generosity with prayers.

Receiving the tractors, the Governors of Central and Upper River regions Ganyi Touray and Omar Khan hailed the efforts of President Jammeh in assisting and taking the lead in boosting agriculture to attain food self-sufficiency.

Both governors commended President Jammeh for his efforts in the welfare of the Gambian people.

Five (5) tractors were give to the President‘s farms in the Central River Region and the Upper River Region also received five (5) and the green youths received the remaining four (4) tractors respectively. The tractors have all the necessary equipments and accessories and it is expected that the President's farms will yield bumper harvests if the rainy season is favourable and our prayers blessed.
